Karting Young Gun - Cameron Leason 3rd in Championship...

Karting young gun Cameron Leason is now lying 3rd in The British Super One Junior TKM Championship in the rookie class despite having a troubled weekend! Unfortunately Leason was hampered with engine problems over the weekend but still managed to battle on to get valuable points for the first round which was held at PFI in Lincolnshire and now puts him 3rd in the Championship which is held throughout the UK.

Cameron explained “it was a hard weekend, but still very enjoyable and challenging for me. Unfortunately our TAG engines we use just did not work well for some reason in the warm/dry conditions, not suiting the PFI track and lacking crucial power required coming out of the corners. We changed engines during the heats, but then resulted in our second engine seizing during the race so had to go back to our original one as only allowed two engines over the race weekend!

“For the finals I was at the back of the grid so my team and I decided to make some drastic changes to the kart which we hoped would see me get a good start to at least get some pace at the beginning of the race and to see me to the finish line... And it worked gaining crucial points which I have to do in this Championship to win the rookie class. Although we may have been hampered this weekend we done a good job turning it around in our favour and now I look forward to the next round” If we can raise the money we are now looking to get a direct drive engine and then run the TAG engine in the wet which we know will be beneficial in those conditions, so that is our aim ready for the next race meeting in May. Also we hope then to get out and do some testing with the new engine. “

With the support from Chung Ying Restaurants / Shell Racing Solutions / 6th Gear Experience/ Showtrax / Talko / Monster Energy and Sabelt, Cameron will now concentrate on the next round of the British Super one Championship which will be held at Sheninghton near Banbury on the 6th/7th/8th May.
